St. Isaac Leaders Talk with State Legislators About Education Funding

October 26, 2009

On Wed, Oct 28th, leaders from St. Isaac Jogues Community Organization will dialogue with state legislators about the need for long-term funding for public education.  Everyone remembers the state’s financial crisis last spring that threatened dire cuts in Orange County public schools, school closures, and teacher layoffs.  While stimulus funding provided 2 years of life support for local schools, many parents, residents, teachers, principals and other schools officials are concerned about sustainable funding plans to ensure quality education for our children.  Leaders have met with Rep. Dean Cannon, Rep. Darren Soto, Rep. Steve Crisafulli, and Rep. Gary Siplin—who represent East Orange County—to better understand their plans, and will share their research at the meeting on October 28th.  For more information, contact Raul at 407-849-5031.
