FOCUS Awarded Heart of Florida United Way Grant

As you may know, Heart of Florida United Way has created a new grant making model called “Investing in Results” in an effort to address the root causes of community problems with a focus on prevention.  After conducting an intensive tri-county assessment of priority issues, and identifying crime and safety as one of the community’s most pressing concerns in 2008, HFUW launched its first of four investment areas, Building Safe Communities.  FOCUS was one of 51 organizations who applied for funding and is very honored to have been selected for its Parent Watch Program, which empowers parents and residents of the Oak Ridge area with leadership training to build relationships, implement new skills, develop partnerships with decision-makers and public institutions, and create positive change in the Oak Ridge community.   More at: http://www.hfuw.org/index.php?pr=Investing_in_Results.
