TPS DEADLINE EXTENDED TO JANUARY 18, 2011
Say YES to TPS! ("Temporary Protected Status" to adjust immigration status for Haitian community)
The deadline to apply for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) has been extended to January 18, 2011. FOCUS F3 youth leaders met with Margaret Iglesias from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to follow up on their meeting with 130 people on June 2nd about Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for the
Haitian community devastated by the earthquake. Click here for article.
This is great news for our Haitian community, and FOCUS leaders will
continue working hard to publicize and assist eligible individuals in their applications. All Nations Church of God of Prophecy will host a Community Outreach event with TPS assistance this Saturday, July 17 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 2906 N. Pine Hills Road, Orlando, 32808.
USCIS is also taking additional steps to assist Haitian nationals who came to the U.S. after the earthquake on Jan 12, who are not eligible for TPS. Individuals can write a letter requesting "deferred action" to adjust their immigration status. For more information, contact Sylvia Ruiz at 407-879-0939.
~TPS allows Haitians living in the U.S. before the January 12th earthquake a process to adjust their immigration status and obtain a work permit. Many are fearful and being exploited. Some do not qualify and want answers.~
